Reversi is a classic board game played on an 8x8 grid, just like chess or checkers. This excellent two-player board game is quick to learn and often lasts only about 10 minutes per match, making it a perfect family board game. The game begins with four discs placed in the center of the board. Black always moves first.

How to Play Reversi Game

Reversi Gameplay Fundamentals. When a player places a disc, it must trap one or more of the opponent’s discs in a straight line (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally). All trapped discs are immediately flipped to the player's color. By default, the available spots to play reversi game are shown by small, flashing markers. Advanced players can turn these hints off in the settings. If a player has no valid move, they must pass their turn. The goal is to fill the entire board. The player with the most discs of their color at the end of the game wins.

Reversi Game Strategy

How to Win Reversi. This great brain training game requires a thoughtful approach. A key reversi game strategy is prioritizing the corner squares whenever possible. If you can take a corner, do it, as this often gives a significant advantage. The edge cells are also important to control. To encourage careful planning, the ability to undo a move is intentionally disabled. If a match is clearly lost, you can start a new one by pressing "Restart Game." If you are new to the game or need a challenge adjustment, you can change the AI Difficulty setting to Easy and enable move hints in the game settings.
